Thanksgiving in the Woods , Year II

We spent our second thanksgiving in the woods this past weekend and it was just as much needed as it was last year.  I've loved going through our photos from last year (See them here) and seeing how much Isaac and Ziggy have grown. We packed up their grandpa's old GI Joes and built a fort for them using timber and stones and cooked our (veg) Thanksgiving meal over an open fire in a Yurt Tent. We slept in an old RV from the 70's and the boys and I in particular shared a SINGLE BED. Fights over who got to sleep beside me definitely happened and one or two of us might've fallen out the bed. We found a...

Autumn Equinox with Zulu and Zephyr

Summer came and went but it will go down as our most memorable yet. We kicked off the first day of Fall with a road trip to our favourite escape. We love the T'sek Hot Springs just outside Pemberton. Imagine sitting in a wooden tub in the middle of the woods with hot mineral water, followed by a cold pool soak to cool off. They're open 365 days a year and in Winter it's even more beautiful with the snow falling. Although going sans kids is much more relaxing, it's a great spot to hit up with the fam if you're feeling the need to reconnect with nature or just clear your mind. The boys are both wearing pieces from the...

Weekend in Seattle

Last minute decisions always make for the best memories. My husband Ryan works in the film industry which has long, and i mean looong, every changing hours. After just passing one another in transit for over a week he finally got the day off. Off we went, packed the boys up, made sure to not bring any kinder eggs (ha!) and remembered to make sure none of our passports and nexus cards were expired. (if you read my post on Cuba, you'll understand why)   It's pretty trippy to be able to travel to another country and back again in the course of a day. It took a pal from Aus to message me in total awe to realize this....

Thanksgiving in the Woods

After a few weeks of colds and not so good vibes in the house, we decided to escape to Ryans mums new place in the woods near Princeton, about 3 hours away. Imagine 5 acres in the middle of nowhere with trailers from the Seventies. This was my kinda Thanksgiving with the boys and Bella (my old pup). Isaac and Zig roasted Marshmallows, Zig freaked because his hands got sticky, and we wandered through the woods and because Bella isn't exactly a ferocious K9 I was fairly certain we would all be eaten by bears. I was wrong! We had a vvvv memorable Thanksgiving this year and maybe next year we will find a trailer from the sixties to eat...

Sea to Sky

Like clockwork Saturday morn rolled around and we packed up and were out of the house by 8 AM. We were en route to Whistler until we realized the FOUR THOUSAND cyclists were part of a big event and were ALL going to Whistler Village. We drove right on past because helllooooooo, too many skin tight shorts and we didn't wanna scar the boys for life. JK I just get bad anxiety in overcrowded places.   We decided to hit up Pemberton for lunch, then continued onto Joffre Lakes Provincial Park and got passed on the 5 minute hike (my thighs were still burning) by practically everyone. Isaac walked right out into the water on the stones. Ryan hollered to...
